About the Role
We’re hiring a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to support advanced computing facilities across North and Central New Jersey. You’ll work with high-density server systems, liquid cooling equipment, and the infrastructure needed to keep critical workloads running.
This is a hands-on engineering position. You’ll spend time inside active data centers, test new hardware configurations, and solve problems involving power, cooling, and server performance.
A major focus is direct liquid cooling (DLC). You’ll help bring new cooling designs into production while making sure existing systems remain safe and reliable.
What You’ll Work On
Liquid Cooling and Thermal Systems
- Help install and support direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems for high-density servers.
- Work with coolant distribution units (CDUs), secondary cooling loops, and related equipment.
- Check cooling performance against equipment requirements and operating limits.
- Investigate problems involving coolant flow, temperature, pressure, and thermal performance.
- Review new cooling designs and test their suitability for production use.
- Work with installation partners to resolve technical issues before systems go live.
Power, Space, and Capacity Planning
- Track available power, cooling capacity, and rack space across data center sites.
- Review hardware plans to confirm that facilities can support new equipment.
- Check power distribution and cooling requirements for dense server installations.
- Use mechanical and electrical drawings to understand facility layouts.
- Identify capacity limits before they affect new deployments.
- Help plan infrastructure changes that support future computing needs.
Hardware Deployment and Troubleshooting
- Support server installations, hardware replacements, and equipment upgrades.
- Investigate hardware faults, firmware issues, and system performance problems.
- Work with Linux-based servers and supporting management tools.
- Test new equipment before it enters production.
- Confirm that power and cooling connections meet technical requirements.
- Help resolve complex issues that involve both server hardware and facility systems.
Monitoring and Operational Readiness
- Keep equipment records and infrastructure inventories accurate.
- Connect new deployments to monitoring and alerting systems.
- Maintain data center infrastructure management (DCIM) records.
- Create clear procedures for equipment installation, testing, and maintenance.
- Verify that new systems are ready for production workloads.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams during infrastructure changes.
Skills and Experience
Core Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data center engineering, critical facilities, or infrastructure operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of direct liquid cooling and high-density computing environments.
- Understanding of liquid cooling risks, maintenance needs, and fluid system operation.
- Experience tracking power, cooling, and space capacity in active data centers.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Experience diagnosing server hardware problems and managing firmware.
- Familiarity with Linux systems or infrastructure automation tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a careful approach to technical testing.
- Ability to manage work independently and communicate with technical teams and vendors.
Technical Knowledge
Experience in the following areas will help you succeed:
- Liquid cooling: Direct-to-chip systems, coolant distribution, and secondary fluid loops.
- Thermal management: Temperature monitoring, cooling capacity, and heat removal.
- Electrical infrastructure: Power distribution, equipment loads, and facility capacity.
- Server hardware: Diagnostics, component replacement, and firmware updates.
- Linux: Basic system administration and hardware troubleshooting.
- Monitoring: DCIM platforms, infrastructure alerts, and equipment inventory.
- Technical documentation: Installation procedures, testing records, and maintenance guides.
Experience supporting technology infrastructure in financial services is helpful, but it isn’t required.
Work Location and Schedule
This is an onsite position in North and Central New Jersey. You’ll work at data center facilities and travel between locations when projects require it.
- Work arrangement: Onsite, five days per week.
- Travel: Local travel between New Jersey facilities.
- Schedule: Some evening or weekend work may be needed for maintenance and deployments.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation is required.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
Why This Role Stands Out
This position offers the chance to work directly with the infrastructure behind high-density computing. Rather than focusing only on facility operations or server administration, you’ll work across both areas.
You’ll help introduce new cooling technologies, solve challenging hardware problems, and improve how critical computing systems are deployed and maintained.
- Work with direct liquid cooling and advanced thermal systems.
- Support dense server installations and complex computing infrastructure.
- Test new hardware and cooling designs before production deployment.
- Take ownership of technical problems from diagnosis through resolution.
- Build experience across mechanical, electrical, and server infrastructure.
We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys hands-on work, asks thoughtful technical questions, and uses testing and data to make sound decisions.
